watashidaydreamer: Hi ! :3 I've been learning Japanese for about six months now, and next year I might be going to either Tokyo or Okinawa, more likely Okinawa because my relatives live there. Anyways, I don't want my studying to become a waste if everyone there just spoke Okinawan-Japanese (which is a LOT different from standard Japanese), plus I'll be staying with American family. In addition, I'm kind of scared. Any tips or anything about your experience that you can give me advice with? I'd appreciate it :)

Congrats! I think youll really enjoy your experience! Japanese people adore Okinawa. xD And its normal to be scared, but dont worry! Japanese people are very helpful, and love foreigners (maybe that doesnt apply to everyone). Studying is great and everything, but its easier and more fun to learn Japanese by talking to people. Honestly, if youre going to school in Japan, it wont matter that you are with an American family. I spend about two hours (minus sleeping) at home everyday. As for the dialect, thats tricky…I guess youll just have to wait and see how different it is. Maybe try watching a lot of NHK? Good luck! (:

I know and talk to pretty much the whole second year floor. xD And I snuck into the cool crowd. Thas whats up. o; And omg the cutest girl in the world is like my closest friend, and i just adore her, shes so cuuuuute. qq and i finally talk to some of the boys. 8D Well, it was more like one guy was the wingman for like ten guys. i joined 4 clubs! Soooooo funnnnn. the school festival is next month, and i cant wait to see what my class will do. i love my school uniform, except the teachers started telling me to not make the skirt so short. -.- Ohhwell.

Living the life

Why is it that teenagers can’t have valid opinions? Try to fucking stand up for people, and that makes you “close-minded.” Arabs aren’t terrorists, Mexicans aren’t thieves, people from Japan don’t want to fucking bomb Hawaii. Damn, get over it. You’re paying for just as many American bums as foreigners. Honestly, are we still the “superior race”? This is why I refuse to live in the US.

Leaving for Japan in 3 days. Finally got my visa and stuff. Still haven’t finished packing. Now I can’t sleep well either. Hopefully, orientation will put my mind at ease. Can’t wait to meet my family!
